America’s 9/11 Foundation

Going to Target in Linden, NJ on August 20, 2011, was one of the most amazing trips ever. As me and my friend arrived, a helicopter was landing right in the parking lot. People were running over to see what all the commotion was. Yep, I was one of them. As I got closer I saw thousands of motorcyclist with 9/11 shirts on and I was amazed. I started asking questions and snapping pictures. I found out that they do this every year, and every year it gets bigger. They ride to all the crash sites to raise money for the families of the 9/11 victims. I hope they reach their goal of the amount of money they want to raise.

Destiny’s Fight for Her Life: Cancer

Recently, I have met a grandmother who loves her granddaughter dearly. Janice (grandmother) has a 6 year old granddaughter (Destiny) fighting for her life to beat Cancer. Destiny was born April 25, 2005, she is the love of her mediate family’s lives. I went over to Janice’s house to see pictures of her. And I must say Destiny is adorable. Destiny right now is in the hospital in ICU and is getting chemotherapy. Destiny is an A student in Elementary School, and has a heart as big as a whale. Janice describes her granddaughter as bubbly, and always smiling. She says, “Destiny can make you smile no matter what you’re going through”. Janice is constantly looking at her baby photos, and school photos. Janice has always been there for her, and right now it hurts her to know she cannot cure her granddaughter. She is trying to be strong, but at this time she is desperate and praying for a miracle. I ask you to keep this shining star (Destiny) in your prayers and in your hearts. Thank you.

Quotes from Janice

“She was always running around and laughing”

“Destiny is very loving and caring”

“All I can do is pray and leave it in God’s hand”

Encouragement is needed…

Going into my sophomore year of college, I decided to look back at the people who motivated me to stay on the right track. I realized how good it felt to just have at least one person pushing you and cheering you on no matter what you’re going through. With that being said, I wanted to encourage people to push on and go after their goals. Sometimes life doesn’t hand you lemons to make lemonade, it hands you a hurdle when you’re not running fast enough to jump over it. That’s the time when you need someone to inspire you to get up. Here is a few words of encouragement from me.

·         Falling down is just a rest stop for you to get up and attack again!

·         Without pain you cannot get strong, so take strength from your plights.

·         When you’re going after something you love, you have more than just good luck on your side.

·         Don’t worry I’m here. J

Rest in Peace Brianna Mariah Lopez (2/14/02-7/19/02)

This post is dedicated to the loving memory of Briana Mariah Lopez. The other night while surfing the web I stumbled upon a video on the story of baby Brianna. She was brutally abused and raped at the hands of her own mother, father and uncle until her death on July 19th 2002. This story really touched Nonnie and I so we decided to honor Brianna’s memory with this post. In addition we have also decided to reach out to some organizations dedicated to helping abused children in our efforts to offer comfort, guidance and companionship to them. Nonnie and I will be updating you guys on our efforts. If any of you witness or hear about a child being abused or neglected please call New Jersey’s child abuse hotline at (1-877-652-2873)

First Task: Travel to Washington DC to go cite seeing and hopefully meet President Barack Obama.
Second Task: Go to NYC to attend the Harlem Million Man March
Third Task: Buy dorm supplies, food shopping(vegetarian diet), and any other necessities for school.
There are several other tasks that we've set out to complete, but they will remain unmentioned. We will update you guys on how things pan out

Eat your Veggiesss!

I have been hearing that since I can remember, but now that is exactly what I am going to eat. (Mixed in with some other stuff) I am starting a new adventure, or should I say lifestyle, of being a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian. Yes I will be eating dairy products and eggs. Maybe eggs. I have come to realize that meat may not be the best thing for me or should I say for the animal. Animal cruelty is sickening, and yes I do know there are farms that treat and KILL the animal better, but I really want to see if I can control WHAT I eat. With this adventure comes a few cons like; protein, iron, cholesterol, and pressure/temptation, yet I really want this. I have been researching “being a vegetarian” for 3 months and overall I see many pros that have made me decide to give it a try. So I hope you guys can support me and hopefully try it for a week. Hahaha. No pressure!. I will be updating you guys and this will be a series. I will be making post about famous vegans and vegetarians that will motivate me.

Long Beach Island!!.

Hey guysss just want to share my experience with LBI. It was amazinggg. Of course I went with friends, but just to laugh and have all positive energy around you makes it worthwhile. As far as me, you know I was screaming and calling myself Poseidon because the water changes a person. I was trying to ignore the fact that the jelly fishes were everywhere but I couldn’t. I was squirming and screaming every time one touched me. By me doing that I kept a lot of my friends entertained. Oh and I got free fudge!. Never had it before, so when I tried it I thought I was going to never calm down. Sugar, sugar, sugar was all I tasted, but I really enjoyed myself. Next stop… the world may never know. Laterrr!

White people using the "N" word

As some of you may know, Bay area based rapper V-Nasty has recently been receiving a lot of media attention for her usage of the “N” word. The African American community is upset with her excessive use of the word stating that it has a painful history, it should only be used amongst African Americans and other personal reasons. According to V-Nasty she uses the word because it is commonly said in her area (East Oakland, CA) and no African American person has approached her about using the word. This leaves me to wonder... Should Caucasians be allowed to use the "N" word? My answer is YES IF AND ONLY AND ONLY IF IT IS USED AS A TERM OF ENDEARMENT. Some African Americans may read this and label me as a coon, Uncle Tom, sell out etc... This opinion is solely based on logic. African Americans using the word everyday as a term of endearment should permit Caucasians to use it. If a Caucasian person is using it with the same meaning as African Americans do being as a friend, a homie, and associate then why should they be chastised? If it is just because he/she is Caucasian then that is hypocritical. Many African Americans say that the Black leaders of the civil rights era did not fight beatings, racial slurs, and prejudice etc… just to have Caucasians say the “N” word with such ease. I agree with that but they also didn’t fight a long battle to hear African Americans say nigga, nigga, nigga every five seconds. Yet many African Americans allow Hispanic people to say the word freely. I know people will say that African American and Hispanics are all the same being that they are both minorities but that is no excuse. There are many Hispanic people who are extremely racist towards African Americans and some Hispanic gangs even target African Americans as potential murder victims. With that being known Hispanics can still call African Americans nigga all day with there being no consequences. Anyway it is the African American communities fault for making the word culturally accepted by using it amongst each other for many years. If people are going to say that there is so much pain behind the “N” word then why use it. I don't hear Asians, Jews or Hispanic people calling each other derogatory names from their past because they know of the pain these words have caused them therefore they choose not to use them. Why couldn't the African American community do the same? If African Americans want Caucasians and other races to stop using the word they have to own up to their part, in the common usage of the word, and stop using the word all together. For any Caucasians reading this do not go around saying the "N" word because I think it's ok,  not every African American thinks like me BECAUSE YOU CAN AND WILL BE VIOLIATED IF SAID AROUND THE WRONG CROWD.
